FIRE & IRON RULES
1. MEMBERSHIP
a) No member shall be discriminated based on race, sex, or creed.
b) Primary membership of the club consists of Firefighters and Fire Department support personnel, i.e. dispatchers, inspectors, and apparatus mechanics, etc. This shall and will include those members who are paid, volunteer or retired.
c) Union membership is not mandatory.
d) Active members can sponsor two “Non-Fire Department” applicants to join the club as motorcycle operators, (i.e. family members or friends). Sponsored members are required to pay dues and prospect to earn the right to wear the club patch. Upon successful completion of the prospecting period, sponsored members will have voting rights and a voice in the clubs direction. “Non-Fire Department” members cannot sponsor or hold office.
e) Active members’ passengers can join the club, (i.e. spouse, family members or friends), and not be counted as a sponsored member. Passengers who chose pay dues are required to prospect to earn the right to wear the club patch. Upon successful completion of the prospecting period, passengers will have voting rights and a voice in the clubs direction. Passengers who do not pay dues will not wear the club patch or rocker, have voting rights, or a voice in the clubs direction. Passengers cannot sponsor or hold office.
f) All makes and models of street legal motorcycles 600 cc’s and above are accepted into club.
2. DUES
a) Each member in good standing is required to pay annual dues.
b) Dues for active members starts at $10.00 a year and will be collected by the end of March of that year. Dues are subject to change via a 2/3rd’s majority vote of the membership. Dues are used to promote activities and purchase equipment and supplies for the club. Dues also give active members voting rights and a voice in the clubs direction.
c) New member dues start at $65.00 a year and will be collected upon approval of membership as a prospect. New member dues are subject to change via a 2/3rd’s majority vote of the membership. New member dues pay for club patches (awarded upon successful completion of the prospecting period), chapter rockers (worn during the prospecting period), and one year’s membership. If a new member, whether sponsored or passenger, fails to pass the prospecting period, all monies will be fully refunded to the member, and the chapter rocker returned to the Club President or his or her representative.
3. THE CLUB PATCH and ROCKERS
a) The club patch design/logo belongs to Fire & Iron, MC, Chapter 1, of the Central Florida Region.
b) The chapter rocker design/logo belongs to Station 35, the Lowcountry Chapter of the Fire & Iron, MC.
c) The club patch will always be worn with honor and pride.
d) Reasons for a member to lose his or her patch and membership in the club are: Non-payment of dues, bringing shame and dishonor to the club, or actions of a member by which a 2/3rd’s majority vote of the membership feels are not in keeping with clubs rules, its sprit and intent.
e) Only members in good standing will wear the club patch and rocker. If for any reason a member resigns or is removed from the club, that member will be required turn their patch and rocker in to the Club President or his or her representative. You will not be refunded for the patch or rocker.
4. GENERAL INFORMATION
a) Club meetings are held once a month with the exception of emergencies. The club strives to have at least one ride a month. All members are encouraged to set ride days.
b) All members are encouraged to do at least three rides per year and participate in one charity event. Due to conflicting Fire Department schedules, this is not a mandatory requirement.
c) Following safe riding practices are strongly encouraged. A member not adhering to the “accepted” rules-of-the-road reflects poorly on the club and is not tolerated.
d) Personal conflicts or fighting within the “ranks” reflects poorly on the club and will not be tolerated. Any disagreements will be brought before the membership for settlement.
e) Membership in other clubs, associations or groups is allowed. (i.e. H.O.G. or CMA)
f) Club patches are worn at all public club events. (i.e. parades, charity events, meetings and official rides)
g) Your rank or position within the Fire Department does not carry over into the club or hold sway over any club activities. What happens in the club stays in the club.
h) People associated with the law enforcement community are not allowed to join the club unless sponsored as outlined in Section 1., paragraph d or e.
GENERAL NOTICE TO MEMBERS:
Any of the above listed rules are subject to change via a 2/3rd’s majority vote of the membership and/or by the President and Officers of the club. You will be informed of any changes.
